Termite treatments are as common in Georgia as the weather changing. The real question is “what are we doing to protect our largest investment from termites and other wood destroying organisms destroying it right from under us”? If termites and other wood destroying organisms attack the wood of the structure, why are we putting protection far away from the actual food source. Understanding a termite and their social behavior is key to stopping them and killing them. There are three types of treatments that are used to prevent the homeowners property from being damaged; but which one is the most effective? We will go through each in depth to make an educated decision on which is best for your customers by examining and defining the difference in the three.

This class also goes in detail about the importance of pest control operators and home builders working in collaboration in regards to spray foam. What protections are available when using spray foam? How does a termite enter the structure and how does spray foam protect them?

In conclusion we will discuss the differences in scheduling for all three services that benefit both the pest operator and the home builder.

Nisus Corporation started in 1987 with one product called Bora-Care that was used as a wood preservative for log homes. Two years later, it was determined that Bora-Care was lethal to a variety of wood destroying organisms like termite, beetles, fungus, etc. This launched Nisus into the pest control industry along with many other products to complete a portfolio of over 30 products. In 1999, HUD approved Bora-Care as a stand alone termite pretreat for homes that is used to protect structures from construction with minimal impact on the environment.

Session Facilitator Mike Purcell started working with Nisus in 2019 after three years in pest control as a sales representative and two years with Target Specialty Products as a distribution sales rep in the Atlanta area. I handle everything from pest professional services to builder services in all aspects in Alabama, Georgia, N Carolina and S Carolina. I used my past experiences to conduct over 100 hours of trainings a year for continued education hours throughout the industry to better educate pest operators and builders in all aspects of spraying products.

This session qualifies under the rules of the Georgia State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors for one (1) continuing education credit hours.
